Cliffside Park Borough was founded in 1895 from portions of Ridgefield Township. It is a small suburban community situated atop the Hudson River, providing unique vistas of the River and New York City skyline. Conveniently located between the George Washington Bridge and the Lincoln Tunnel, about 32% of its residents commute in the daytime.
Its territory of 0.963 square miles is very densely populated by 23,549 people, as of the 2010 census. There were 10,665 housing units, with an estimated median value of $450,152 in 2009 as per City-data. The January 2011 cost of living index was 29.0% higher than the national average.
The 2006-2010 American Community Survey of the Census Bureau estimated (with a 7%-10% margin of error) that the median household income was $67,856 and the median family income $80,856.
