The Fair Haven Municipal Court is located in the Borough Hall at 748 River Rd Fair Haven, NJ 07704. The Honorable Judge James Newman holds court sessions on the second & fourth Thursdays of each month at 9:00 AM. The Court Administrator is Dale Connor. The phone number is (732) 747-0241 ext. 214. Office hours at this court are as follows: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:00 AM until 11:00 AM, and then again from 12:00 PM until 3:00 PM. Tuesday and Friday from 8:00 AM until 11:00 AM.
Note: This court does not have jurisdiction to hear juvenile delinquency matters. All juvenile cases in Monmouth County (excluding traffic-only matters) are sent to the Monmouth County Superior Court, in Freehold.
General Fair Haven Information
Fair Haven, approximately a 2.112 square mile area, is located in Monmouth County, New Jersey along the Navesink River. The borough was created in 1912 from sections of Shrewsbury Township. The population in Fair Haven was 6,121 according to the 2010 U.S. Census, which concludes in an increase of 184 from the 2000 census.
Many residents commuting to the city take advantage of the ferries in nearby towns such as Atlantic Highlands. Manhattan is about 80 miles away but by way of ferry only takes about 40 minutes. New Jersey Transit is also available from Red Bank for commuters who prefer the train.
With neighboring towns such as Red Bank and Rumson there is much to do in the area. In the center of town is a very upscale French restaurant, Le Fandy, known for its lobster risotto. Red Bank and Rumson house many shops, theaters, and restaurants as well, some within walking distance from portions of Fair Haven. Fair Haven is just a short drive to some of New Jersey’s most beautiful beaches, such as Sea Bright or Sandy Hook.
The Fair Haven Public School System serves students in kindergarten through eighth grade. There are 3 schools in the system. The Viola L. Sickles School is for students from Pre-Kindergarten through third grade. The Knollwood School is for kids in fourth through eighth grades. High school age residents attend the Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School along with students from Rumson. The Holy Cross and Rumson Country Day schools are both private schools located in Rumson that Fair Haven may chose to send their children to for elementary grades. For Grades 9-12, Red Bank Catholic High School is a private option for residents. While there are no colleges or Universities located in Fair Haven, there are many option s close by. Monmouth University is about 10 miles away in Long Branch, NJ. Rutgers University is located in New Brunswick and is only about a 20-minute drive from Fair Haven.
Fair Haven hosts many annual events in the borough, most notably is the Fireman’s Fair held on the Fair Haven Fire Company grounds.
Around Labor Day weekend thousands of people come into Fair Haven to enjoy in the festivities. It has been known for famous musicians such as Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi to stop by as well. Every year there is a 50/50 raffle whose prize can be thousands of dollars. One night in the weekend is dedicated to the Fireman and is dubbed Fireman’s night. All firefighters from any firehouse are welcome to attend.
