There were no murders, rapes, robberies or bias crimes. The reports included 5 assaults, 9 burglaries, 22 incidents of domestic violence, and 22 cases of police force.
Independent data, which does not consider bias crimes, domestic violence or police force, show 93 thefts, 3 motor vehicle thefts, and no arsons.
Riverdale – New Jersey
Riverdale was established as a borough in 1923 from portions of Pequannock Township. Its territory covers 2.1 square miles, where 3,559 people reside as of the 2010 census. This is a significant increase from 2,498 in the 2000 census.
There were 671 families and 940 housing units, as of the 2000 census. An unofficial 2009 estimate placed the median house or condo value at $348,355. The January 2011 cost of living index was 17.7% higher than the national average.
As per the 2000 census, the median family income was $79,557. Males had a median income 22% higher than females ($50,457 versus $41,420).The median household income was $71,083, and the per capita income $31,187. Unofficial 2009 estimates show these had risen to $61,140 and $38,547, respectively. About 5.3% of the population was below the poverty level.
The racial and ethnic composition as of the 2000 census was 93.39% White, 1.08% African American, 2.72% Asian, and 4.40% Hispanic or Latino. The Italian population is very considerable; a fourth of the residents reported this origin in the 2000 census. Other significant ancestries are Irish (24.2%), German (17.3%), and Polish (7.9%). The percentage of foreign-born residents is lower than the state average (9.1% versus 17.5%).
Of the 919 households registered in the 2000 census, a third had minors living with them. Sixty percent were married couples living together. Households composed of non-families and of individuals represented 26.9% and 21.1%.
At the time of the 2000 census, the median age was 37 years. The principal age groups were under 18 (23.5%), from 25 to 44 (33.5%) and from 45 to 64 (23.6%).
The 2010 census data for highest educational level of residents age 25 and over reveal that the percentage with a bachelor’s degree was above state level (24.84% versus 20.65%). However, that of those who completed a graduate degree was below state level (9.59% versus 12.05%). Less than 9% had not completed high school versus 34.56% who had. Those with some college or associate degree were 22.78%.
The industries in which males engaged from 2005 to 2009 were Retail trade (13%), Construction (12%), and Wholesale trade (10%). Females worked in Retail trade (15%), Health care and social assistance (12%) and Educational services (11%).
