Spring is finally here in Freehold, New Jersey, which means it’s time to get outside and enjoy the nature around us!
One of our favorite local spots to enjoy the great outdoors is Turkey Swamp Park in Freehold. The park opens at 7 a.m. each day, giving you a great opportunity for a morning walk, run, or bike ride before you begin your day.
Turkey Swamp Park covers 2,173 acres of woods. There is a 17-acre lake for fishing and boating, as well as miles of trails, an archery range, and playgrounds for your little ones.
Much of Turkey Swamp is forested by pitch pine and oak trees with an understory of bracken fern, pepper bush, blueberry, and catbriar, according to the Monmouth County Parks website.
Runners should be sure to explore the trails that traverse the park. There are 9.15 miles of relatively level trails, with the beautiful scenery of the lake making your jog all the more enjoyable this spring.
For a unique outdoor outing, stop by the Turkey Swamp archery range, open year-round. The stand-up range features seven shooting stations, each composed of two excelsior bales.
If you’re eager to begin the fishing season, bass, catfish, and bluegills can be caught from the shore of the lake.
From all of us at the Law Offices of Anthony J. Vecchio, LLC, we encourage you to get outside this spring, shake off the winter dust, and explore your local Freehold, New Jersey park! You’ll be glad you did!
