Our firm is so pleased with all of the students who submitted an entry for our 2017 scholarship contest. We asked students to answer the following prompt with their choice of creative entry:
Students submitted their entires through essays, videos, visuals, poetry, and other creative media. While we would love to offer our scholarship to every participant, we had to choose only two winners. As someone who worked since the age of 14 and put myself through college and law school, I know first hand how difficult it can be finance a quality education. This is a significant issue relatively unique to individuals growing up today who must find creative ways to pay for college. Having received the benefit of several scholarships during law school, I felt this was a good time to pay it forward.
Karli Forte of Indiana submitted a poem that she wrote regarding the incarceration program in the U.S. She recites the poem while being accompanied by a fellow student who plays the bass. See their video below.
Killian Fisher of Texas submitted a thorough and very well written essay. He will be pursuing a career in medicine and entering the Doctorate of Median Physics program at the University of Texas Health Center in July 2017.
